In Darth Vader issue two we continue Vader's journey to acquire his own Sith lightsaber. This mission (given to him by the Emperor himself) is only completed when Lord Vader finds a Jedi, defeats him in combat, and takes his lightsaber. Vader then has to bleed the kyber crystal inside and there you go, his very own Sith lightsaber.
The story begins with a squad of clone troopers that have been stationed at the Mid-Rim Jedi Outpost base Brighthome. The clone troopers have been given the very boring task of doing inventory for the entire base. In fact, when we catch up with them, it's so boring one of the troopers is playing with a lightsaber pretending to be a Jedi. Darth Vader arrives at the base and, being so soon after the events in Episode III, none of the clone troopers know who he is; chaos ensues.
Charles Soule is an incredibly talented writer and a big player in the Marvel Star Wars Universe. He wrote both five issue limited series books Star Wars: Lando and Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin. Soule also writes the ongoing series Star Wars: Poe Dameron (a personal favorite of mine). This book offers a fantastic look as we see the prequel trilogy begin to blend with the original. The story also offers an interesting insight into what was going on in the minds of the Clone Troopers as they start to realize they're being phased out. This series, so far, has proven itself as a MUST READ for Star Wars fans.
